Valle de Abdalajís

A visit to remember.

Casabell 3 is located at the foot of the Sierra del Valle de Abdalajís, within the village of the same name. It forms part of the Intercontinental Mediterranean Biosphere Reserve (Spain–Morocco), and is set in a privileged natural environment. In just a few minutes, you can reach some of the most unique and extraordinary places in the world, such as the Caminito del Rey, the Torcal de Antequera Natural Park—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—, the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, and the Dolmens of Antequera, also recognized by UNESCO. You’ll also be close to the historic cities of Antequera and Ronda, rich in cultural and architectural heritage.

Caminito del Rey

Located just a few kilometers from Casabell 3, the Caminito del Rey is one of the most impressive trails in Spain.** This spectacular pathway clings to the cliffs of the Gaitanes Gorge, offering breathtaking views and a dose of adrenaline for the more adventurous. El Chorro Inland Beach

Just 600 meters from the Caminito del Rey lies the only inland beach in the province of Málaga to hold a Blue Flag. It’s a peaceful, unique spot—perfect for rounding off your visit to the Caminito del Rey during the summer months. Without a doubt, it’s another great reason to explore this area, where both adults and children can enjoy the natural surroundings. Gangarro Viewpoint

From the Hermitage, you can climb about 50 meters higher to reach a viewpoint with spectacular views. It is recommended only for people with full mobility and no fear of heights. The stairs are very steep—while the ascent is fairly easy, the descent can be challenging due to the slope. Keep in mind that the steps are built directly into the mountainside.

Hermitage

Check opening hours. It offers a spectacular view of the entire village. From our accommodation, simply walk up the street, turn right, and after about 20 meters, you’ll find the path to the hermitage on your left. From there, you can enjoy magnificent views of the village and its natural surroundings. You can also visit the Hermitage of Cristo de la Sierra, though it's necessary to check the schedule for access to the interior.

Sierra de Abdalajís

Part of the Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean (Spain–Morocco), the Sierra de Abdalajís can be explored through several walking trails. Along the way, you'll discover fascinating geological formations, such as those found near the village on the path to the hermitage—at a sharp 90-degree turn halfway up, there’s a small trail that leads you to some unique geological sites. You can also see the protected species of Mediterranean dwarf palm, which was once an important resource for the local economy until the mid-20th century. Today, it is a protected plant. This route is especially enjoyable and suitable for walking with children.

Outdoor Activities

The village of Valle de Abdalajís is a prime destination for two exciting adventure sports: rock climbing and hang gliding or paragliding. In addition, you can enjoy a variety of scenic hiking routes through the surrounding mountains.
